The 46-year-old Jackson has no coaching experience but has been the lead analyst for ABC and ESPN’s NBA coverage in recent seasons. Jackson will begin his duties when the NBA finals end. His counter that he coached throughout his playing career from the point guard position appears to have finally struck a chord with the Warriors and their new leadership group which includes new owners Joe Lacob and Peter Gruber along with Jerry West in the front office.
Mike Brown has become the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kevin McHale has been named the new head coach of the Houston Rockets, and now the Golden State Warriors appear on the verge of naming a new coach. Jackson played 17 years in the NBA for New York, the Clippers, Indiana, Denver, Toronto, Utah and Houston, making the playoffs 14 times. Owner Joe Lacob says Jackson's leadership as a player will translate well to coaching.
