The Green Lantern, the new movie featuring that super hero you definitely knew about before this movie. Green Lantern is another slice of expensive ho-hum cinema from Hollywood saved only by its director’s professional polish and the production team’s craftsmanship. The fantastical sci-fi context and rich art design offer a sumptuous visual experience. The special effects, after early geek brigade online grumbles, are suitably stellar. The picture has signs of tinkering and studio interference. But it also has several fine action scenes, a strong visual style that feels like a living comic book, and arguably the best 3D conversion yet achieved in live-action.
The latest Hollywood adventure hero is confusing, moralistic, and a protagonist with all the attractions of a creepy lawyer. He has supporters, but when they hear of a new blockbuster this summer, many viewers will think of Green Lantern? He is the same Green Hornet? Even if the character was created in 1940 All-American Comics, is almost as well known as the likes of Superman, Batman or Spider-Man. The Film Green Lantern, would enjoy my 8 years Nolanverse although give it a watch. Get a tin of Candy-colored bat Schumacher flick. But I can’t. Our close resemblance to super heroes is the much-maligned somewhere in the Incredibles and video animations, bowdlerised fantastic.
