COE prices closed at S$38,889, down S$7,240 Dealers said they were not surprised by the drop in COE prices. The only fall came in Category D, for motorcycles. Cat D COEs went down by $240, to $2,013. This amounts to a 10.7% decrease over the previous bidding exercise in May. At $46,989, that was about what I would have had to pay for a new Hyundai Avante in February 2010, had I succeeded in my bidding for the COE which I had paid a deposit for.
Category A, for cars of engine capacities below 1600cc and for taxis, saw an increase of $2,199 from the first bidding in May, ending the day at $46,989.
Category B, for cars of engine capacities above 1600cc, went up by a smaller margin, going up by $289 to end at $56,300.
Category E COEs, which is for the Open Category, saw a small rise as well, going up by $399 to end the bidding tender at $56,889
Among car COEs, premiums for Cat A (cars 1,600cc and below and taxis) soared the highest by 13.6 per cent to end at $53,390.
